Pargas – a town in the Archipelago’s embrace

Pargas is a city of about 15 000 inhabitants in the southern part of the province of Southwest Finland, just over 20 kilometers from Turku. Pargas is the other city in Finland to be completely surrounded by water.

Pargas took its current form in 2009, when Pargas, Nauvo, Korppoo, Houtskari and Iniö merged to form the current city of Pargas. Previous municipalities has strong, unique identity even today. Just over half of the inhabitants speak Swedish as their mother tongue.

Pargas offers archipelago lifestyle with quality services

In Pargas, the sea is never far from your doorstep. You can choose to live in one of the local gems, the charming wooden house area Old Malmi, for example. Pargas also has several atmospheric islands, many of which are home to year-round residents. After all, the archipelago atmosphere is at its best when your home is a ferry ride away! Of course, in the summer, the area is popular with many holiday cottagers and boaters. For those dreaming of owning their own home, Pargas also offers plots of land surrounded by marine nature.

But island living does not mean compromising on services. For example, the city has both Finnish and Swedish-language upper secondary schools. Vocational training is provided by Axxell's Pargas branch and Finland's only fishing school in Kirjala. In 2023, the Brava Learning Centre was opened, housing several of the above-mentioned schools.

In addition to high-quality basic services, Pargas also offers cafés, restaurants and speciality shops for your leisure time! In summer, the marinas and their services are full of life.
