Honkilahti area is beautiful countryside, where the abundance of local farms guarantees quality food on the table. The villages belonging to Honkilahti are Auvainen, Haveri, Honkilahti church village, Koskenkylä, Komoinen, Lellainen, Löyttylä and Mannila. Honkilahti was an independent municipality before it joined Eura in 1970.
The villages consist mostly of detached houses with well-kept gardens and stunning farms. The proximity of the lakes makes for a pleasant life. The transport connections are quite good. For example, the center of Eura is about 20 kilometers away, which takes only 15 minutes by car. Honkilahti is also close to big cities: Rauma is about 40 kilometers away and the trip to Turku and Pori takes about an hour.
Children from the villages in the Honkilahti area can start their primary education at Honkilahti school, which is right in the center of the area, in Koskenkylä. There are also two day cares for small children. The nearest church is in Honkilahti church village (kirkonkylä), being true to its name. This church is also an interesting destination for tourists.
The villages of Honkilahti have a long agricultural history, old buildings and a good spirit. Honkilahti is proudly old-fashioned, for example, in the way that everyone is greeted on the street, but new winds have also brought optical fibre networks to the area.
Many people are able to work remotely and, through online shopping, mail is delivered to your door, even from abroad. Thanks to uncongested roads, both public and commercial services are within easy reach, both from the centre of Eura and from neighbouring towns.
Sieravuori Holiday Center is full of experiences for tourists of Honkilahti. Here you will find a camping site, an event venue, and a huge number of activities from water sports to forest adventures. In Sieravuori you can go paddling, play frisbee golf, try many other sports and enjoy the wilderness on the Sieravuori outdoor trail (in Finnish). Another trail where you can experience wonderful Finnish nature is the Koskeljärvi nature trail (in Finnish) on the shores of Lake Koskeljärvi.
You can read more about different areas and life in Honkilahti on Honkilahti’s own website (in Finnish).
