Kimitoön

Mjösund residents live a peaceful life in stunning archipelago scenery, but close to services and many activities of Kemiönsaari. Its central location along Turuntie enables quick stops in Turku!

Mjösund – Life right beside the sea

Mjösund locates in the northwestern part of Kemiönsaari, next to Sauvo. The residents of Mjösund enjoy the proximity to the sea and their own peace, but - at the same time - the services of the city center of Kemiö are less than half an hour away as well. Mjösund’s central location close to the mainland also means that large cities can be conveniently reached along Turuntie Road. For example, Turku and Salo can be reached from Mjösund in less than one hour and Helsinki in two hours.

The Porto West detached houses in Mjösund will be completed shortly, meaning many unique opportunities to live effortlessly in a detached house by the sea and share a common beach with your neighbors.

Mjösund area has an interesting history and, according to one of many brick-making traditions, burnt bricks and building ceramics are still produced in Mjösund today. In addition, a sunken steamship wreck in the 1950s can be found in the coastal waters, although, to great chagrin of ‘land crabs’, it is hidden beneath the surface!

Never get bored, no matter the season!

Young residents of Mjösund have access to schools in the city center of Kemiö, where you will find primary and secondary schools in Finnish and Swedish, as well as a high school in Swedish. In addition to basic services, the center of Kemiö has well-served grocery stores, restaurants, cafés and a bakery. Amospuisto, on the other hand, offers opportunities for a wide range of sports, from various ball games to outdoor activities as skiing and ice skating.

However, it is not necessary to leave Mjösund to find things to do, as Jyske Sports Association Kysö and the Mjösund Village Association organize program and activities for residents. Mjösund also has a riding school for horse enthusiasts and here you can learn about the history of the magnificent Westankärr Manor.
