Västanfjärd was declared Southwest Finland’s ‘Village of the year in 2019’ due to its charming archipelago atmosphere as well as many activities for the inhabitants. Västanfjärd’s peaceful village roads and sheeps, grazing in coastal meadows, promise a serene everyday life in the heart of nature. The Swedish-speaking school is located near Nivelax, but it is also nearby Västanfjärd. It takes only around 20 minutes from Västanfjärd to drive to the Center of Kemiö and Dalsbruk-Taalintehdas to reach their services.

The opencast mines are reminiscent of Västanfjärd's lime industry and its long history with sailing is still strongly present in the region. Looking even further down the timeline there is Jarlgård’s Jatulintarha. You can get to know these historical places in two different nature trails. You are most welcome to visit them and enjoy the archipelago’s nature. Despite the peaceful atmosphere, it is granted that you won’t get bored in Västanfjärd as it offers diverse hobbies such as yoga, golf, tennis and padel.
