Services and the Paimio River at your doorstep

Residents of northern Paimio can relish the stunning scenery of the Paimio River Valley without sacrificing accessibility to services. The charming residential areas of Moisio and Oinila grace the banks of the Paimio River, adjacent to the town center Vista. Even from the more northern residential areas, reaching the center takes just a 15-minute drive!

Paimio High School and Jokela Primary School are situated in the northern region, along with the Paimio Music Institute housed within the high school building. Additionally, Oinila boasts a museum hill, home to the popular summer theater productions of the Paimio Theater.

If needed, it takes approximately half an hour to drive from northern Paimio to Turku via Highway 10 or the Helsinki-Turku motorway. Residents can also opt for TLO or Föli bus services.

Relaxing in a traditional landscape

The Paimio River provides locals with a wide range of recreational opportunities. For example, the Juntola and Askala hydroelectric power plants, nestled along the river, offer splendid spots to visit owing to the stunning river landscape.

In Askala, a highly valued Askala meadow, maintained by the Paimio Region Environmental Association, provides grazing grounds for sheep during the summer months. The Juntola power plant marks the starting point of the impressive Paimio River Valley’s Natura 2000 site.

There are also two cafés in northern Paimio: Café Atsalea and a seasonal café in Askala, operational during summer weekends, in proximity to the Askala hydroelectric plant and the field. The area comes alive with events held at the wooden village school in Suksela, such as the autumn rural and Christmas markets.  Additionally, the Paimio Local History Museum hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the summer.
