Pahaniemi - Artukainen

Pahaniemi and Artukainen are located in the western Turku about five kilometers from the city center and sharing a border with the City of Raisio. The area is located along the two main roads, the Naantali highway (Naantalin pikatie) and the Suikkilantie and therefore the area also has good public transport connections. The Port of Turku and Pansio shipyard are both located in relatively short biking distance. Pahaniemi and Artukainen form an interesting mix of diverse residential areas close to nature, industrial areas, the exhibition center and the sports arena.

There are four distinctive residential areas in Pahaniemi: townhouse area of Pahaniemi in the south, the Vienola suburb consisting of mostly low-rise apartment buildings, and suburbs Härkämäki and Jyrkkälä with high rise apartment buildings. Artukainen on the other hand is mainly an industrial area in the middle of a rural landscape. It includes the Turku Exhibition Center, the Gatorade Sports Center and the Artukainen Riding School.

The neighborhood has multiple public and private sector services, such as several day care units, a school, a library, grocery stores and excellent recreational facilities. Jyrkkälä has a RC-Racing track, a skate park and a youth house. In Härkämäki one can find a football field, a tennis court, a dog park and a nature track. There is a residents' association Pahaniemen Omakotiyhdistys ry operating in the area.
