Hirvensalo - archipelago just a stone's throw from Turku city center

Susanna | 18.6.2020

Hirvensalo's pride and joy is its archipelago environment, together with its seaside and its soothing rural landscapes. The Nature Reserve Friskajanlahti attracts birdwatchers even from further afield and reminds of the constant presence of nature here. The rural atmosphere is experienced best by cycling through the island, being greeted by wide open fields, as well as cows and horses busy with their summer duties. In this article, Hannu Heikkala, a long-term resident of Hirvensalo, and Heljä Laakso-Heikkala, a newcomer, talk about what it's like to live in the embrace of the archipelago.

The blog post is currently only in Finnish. If you can read our beautiful language or want to use Google Translate, you can read the Finnish blog post here.
