Taalistehdas is an idyllic and lively village, about one hour's drive away from Turku and Salo. You will get to Kemiö’s city center and its services in about 20 minutes, but Taalintehdas has its own services as well. You can get to big cities (Turku and Salo) daily by bus. Fortunately, there are also remote workspaces in Taalintehdas for Finnish and Swedish-speaking students. In addition to daily services like grocery stores, pharmacies and a liquer store Alko, there is a cinema and a cozy library in Taalintehdas!

Ruukkikylä and its history in the iron industry can be seen around the area, and the area's milieu includes, as an integral part, restored blast furnaces, coal furnaces and numerous workers' residential buildings. Taalintehdas recreation ground offers a framework for all kinds of sports from athletics to ball sports and frisbee golf. During the winter you can skate or ski. There is also a hiking trail to the Senatsberget lookout point, which has an amazing scenery. In the trails of Taalintehdas you will get to know the history of ironworks, try the wellness path or you can go exploring with your younger family members to an activity journey, ‘puuharetki’.

For people who prefer to stay indoors, there is Ruukinhalli which offers high-quality space for gymnastics, ball sports and gym practicing. During summertime, residents love to visit the beach!

There are also cultural activities in Taalintehdas. In summer Ruukinmuseo presents the rich history of Taalintehdas. Every year there are multiple festivals held like Baltic Jazz, Norpas and September Open Middle Age Festival in Ruukinhalli - Kemiönsaari. These festivals attract many visitors from outside of the village. Taalintehdas Market is an important meet-up place for locals, and it is especially a lively place during the summer!
