Valpperi

Nousiainen

If you love camping, outdoor activities, or volunteering your time for the common good, the village of Valpperi is the place for you! The national park of Kurjenrahka and hiking trails of Kuhankuono are right on the outskirts of the village and the vibrant village school organizes weekly educational trips for kids to beautiful places in nature.

Many are ready to lend a hand in the village of the year

Valpperi is located at the east side of Nousiainen and is a proud recipient of a title of Southwest Finland’s village of the year 2021. The village is especially known for its nature and amazing community spirit. Examples of the latter are the village cafe that is maintained by voluntary work and many of Valpperi’s high-quality outdoor destinations that are the result of active residents’ work.

The residents of Valpperi mostly live in detached houses. Some of them live next to the denser village center and some in more sparsely populated areas. People who wish to build their own house here could look for private lots for sale. In addition, the municipality of Nousiainen has raw land in the area of Valpperi's old school and plans to create plots for sale in the area.

The delightful village school

Valpperi’s over 100-year old village school moved to the new premises in 2015. The school offers high-quality education for grades 1 to 6. The new school building is located right next to the Kuhakuono hiking trail, and because of this amazing location, it is possible to arrange weekly classes in nature. In fact, the school has an environmental profile. The secondary school and high school are not too far either, located in the center of Nousiainen approximately 10 km away. Students enrolled in preschool and primary school are entitled to school transport when the distance is more than 5 km.

Every outdoor enthusiast’s dream

The hiking trail of Kuhakuono and the national park of Kurjenrahka are bordering Valpperi, offering a remarkable hiking terrain. There’s also the Falkinkoski beach, which is very popular among the residents. Many kids love jumping from the diving platform and splashing around on a Wibit track - a giant floating playground. In the winters there’s always a sauna ready for ice swimmers. The scenic Savojärvi beach is also located in Valpperi near the national park of Kurjenrahka.

In addition to hiking and camping, Valpperi’s sports center manages a mountain bike network, a frisbee golf course, fitness stairs, and the Valpperin Urheilutalo clubhouse. The area is also especially suitable for winter sports. Valpperi is known for the best snow conditions in the region, which are often referred to as “Valpperi’s white miracle” and allow for a large skiing trail network. Long hiking trails lead to the national park. Valpperi also offers guided sports activities for all ages and houses a youth center for children.
