Karvetti - Tammisto

Naantali

Karvetti-Tammisto is a peaceful neighborhood only a short distance away from the hustle and bustle of the Naantali center. With shops nearby, and many options for exercise enthusiasts, it is a comfortable place to live in green surroundings.

Karvetti-Tammisto neighborhood is located on the border between Naantali and Raisio, only a few kilometers from the center of Naantali. The neighborhood sits conveniently by the Aurinkotie road leading to Raisio and Turku, which makes it a fast trip to Turku, not more than 20 minutes. The services of the city center are never more than a leisurely walk away. And on a rainy day, the Turku region’s public transport Föli, takes the passengers to the city in minutes and all the way to Turku in approximately half an hour.

The residential area offers many different housing options. The less densely built Tammisto consists mainly of new detached and semi-detached houses, while the eastern part of Karvetti has many apartment buildings and terraced houses surrounded by nature. The western part of Karvetti, on the other hand, is populated by detached and semi-detached houses built in the 1970–1980s. A small industrial area with predominantly metal and electrical industry is located at the southern part of the neighborhood, adding a characteristic industrial feel to the neighborhood’s offering.

Karvetti and Tammisto neighborhoods are peaceful and close to many services, making them popular among families with children. The west side of the area hosts a Väentupa kindergarten and a Karvetti primary school. For active adolescents and adults alike, Karvetti community center, also known as ‘Monnari’ provides plenty of things to do. In its close proximity, one can also find a basketball court to score, a heated artificial turf to play football, and a Lidl to grab a snack after strenuous physical activity. Outside the courts, the outdoors can be enjoyed on the rocky forest patches among the neighborhoods, which create a real sense of living in the middle of woods with fresh air aplenty.

The history of Karvetti can be felt all around the neighborhood. The name originates from the Karvetti manor house, and the apple trees spotted around the surroundings commemorate the apple garden that was founded in the tax-exempt farm of Karvetti in 1940.
