Northern Naantali, based on a voting district, consists of several neighborhoods: Lietsala, Sammalkallio, Myllärinmäki, Suopelto, Murikko, Nuhjala and Venka, which are all characterised by green surroundings and low-rise buildings. The northern part of the area is mostly rural and sparsely populated. It is fringed by Masku municipality in the north and Raisio in the east. The southern part of the area is then bordered by major road Aurinkotie in the south, offering excellent connections for drivers and public transport users. From here, you can get very conveniently to the center of Naantali, or Turku market square, only in half an hour with the Turku region's public transport Föli.
The building stock consists mainly of detached, semi-detached and terrace houses. Nevertheless, you can also find a neighborhood in Nuhjala with approximately ten apartment buildings, built in the 1970s, and served by a convenience store and a few other amenities. Elsewhere, Lietsala offers daily services, primary schools, and a junior high school. For the youngest family members, the area has a kindergarten too.
In addition to the residential areas, Northern Naantali boasts business and recreation activities. As a sports enthusiast, you may well find yourself either in Suopelto frisbee golf course, a multi-sports court or Suopelto jogging track – all of which make for great outdoor activities. Looking for more? Suopelto school has already seen its newly-built sports field in high use. And the forests in the north are open all year round, providing natural ways for dwellers to recharge and renew.
The popular Aurinko Golf Naantali is located in the Venka and Murikko neighborhood. There you will also find a new detached house neighborhood built in the 2010s consisting of over 20 stone houses. And for those who crave for more cultural experiences, Naantali theatre operates in the heart of the business district in Murikko. Shared by the municipalities of Naantali, Masku, and Raisio, and located at their joint border, the Isosuo waste management station encourages inhabitants for recycling and being responsible citizens in their everyday life.
