Kaanaa belongs to the southeastern part of Raisio, next to the borders of Turku and Naantali. The efficient transport network takes you to both cities fast, as the Raisionlahdentie highway passes passengers through it. The center of Raisio is located just a bit over 5 kilometers from Kaanaa and the provincial center Turku can be reached by travelling no more than 10 kilometers. Residents can move around by using the Turku region's Föli buses, yet owning a vehicle may be a good idea, especially in the less populated Kaanaa.
The area consists of mostly detached houses. In 1997, a Finnish Housing Fair took place in Kaanaa, which resulted in a distinct neighborhood called Kattelus. The area is popular amongst families with children as The Kaanaa school, in the distinctive Housing Fair area, offers education up to the sixth grade. Kindergartens in the neighborhood also make life noticeably easier for families with children.
In Kaanaa, you can sense the proximity of the sea. Those with a flair for boating are warmly welcomed at the Hahdenniemi marina on the western shore of the Raisio Bay. The marina is also an excellent place for spotting large cruise ships, as the Perno shipyard is located on the other side of the Raisio Bay.
The nature trails Timalipolku and Uikkupolku originate in Kaanaa and make its residents really happy and recharged. Along these trails, one can enjoy the unique seaside flora and fauna and discover hundreds of bird species inhabiting the Raisio Bay.
