Rantola

Sauvo

Located by the sea, Rantola is a lively village of people who know how to amuse themselves with a wide array of activities. The developing neighborhood experiences a steady rise in new buildings, but the long history of the area is cherished as well.

Life on the coast

The Rantolansalmi Bridge crosses a narrow strait with settlements, a marina, wooded hills, and wide stretches of fields on both sides. Located at the southern edge of Sauvo, Rantola is a gem of a neighborhood where residents can enjoy the sea, peace of nature and the active community around them.

Other local services and businesses are also located in the immediate proximity of the Rantolansalmi bridge. One of the best-known places is the popular village shop Rantolan puoti. It serves burgers so famous that people have been known to travel long distances to taste them! Other municipal services, such as the new daycare center and school, are located 10 kilometers away in the center of Sauvo, so those living in Rantola with children might need their own car to get around. Anyhow, the municipality offers school transportation for children.

New plots are being planned and sold (in Finnish) in Rantola at a steady pace, and the peace of nature also attracts temporary summer residents. In addition, people gather from far and wide to the popular party venue and dance floor in Kallioranta, which has a long history dating back to the 1950s.

Active associations make an active life

Karuna Village Association and Karuna Athletes ensure that the residents of Rantola do not get bored! The associations organize events, provide opportunities to participate in different sports and maintain the Karuna Kallioranta sauna and ice swimming area. The Karuna Village Association also maintains two nature trails: the Pirunpelto Trail and the Silence Trail.

Rantola is a home for many families with children, and there is a lovely playground on the Karuna beach. For boat enthusiasts, the marina in Kallionranta offers direct access to the sea. Tourists will enjoy a visit to Rantola beach, an atmospheric Karuna Kallioranta lean-to with a place for a campfire, Karuna granite church and Karuna manor.
