Kurala-Kohmo is an area surrounded by fields and forests near the river Aura about 6 kilometers from the center of Turku. Its most famous attraction is Kuralan kylämäki (Kylämäki Village) which is a museum and a recreation area owned by the City of Turku. The village has a first written mention already in the 1300s. Described as a village of "living history", Kuralan kylämäki cherishes the tradition and lifestyle of the 1940s and 50s. The residential areas in Kurala and Kohmo are close to the Kuralan kylämäki, surrounded by fields and forests, allowing the residents to enjoy the atmosphere of the countryside.
There are several specific neighborhoods within the area. In the western part of the Kurala district, there is a neighborhood called Hannunniittu, which is known for its terraced houses. In the eastern part of Kurala, there is an apartment building complex surrounded by forest. In Kohmo, there are mostly light-colored apartment buildings. Of course, there are also detached houses in the area. Housing prices vary greatly.
Basic services in Kurala-Kohmo are splendid, including two schools, daycare centers, grocery stores, and a few restaurants. The area has great public transport connections, and Hämeentie highway runs along the river Aura. In addition to river Aura, there is a small river, Jaaninoja, flowing through the area and surrounded by the fields making the area attractive to recreational activities. There is a Facebook group Facebook group for the Nummi-Halinen area in which you can participate in discussions and find information also concerning Kurala-Kohmo.
