Embraced by large parks, Kurjenmäki-Mäntymäki is a green neighborhood close to the center of Turku. Residents are delighted with the versatile services in the area.

Mäntymäki and Kurjenmäki are located a few kilometers from the center of Turku, next to Samppalinna, Vartiovuori, and Kupittaanpuisto parks, which house excellent facilities for different types of sports. You can walk to the city center in less than half an hour and the public transport connections are splendid.

Mäntymäki consists mainly of apartment building blocks and detached houses. Its most famous buildings are the so-called star houses built in the 1950s, whose architecture has been inspired by Swedish-style tower houses. There are also new apartment buildings currently under construction. If you explore the area further, you can find a verdant allotment garden called Kupittaan siirtolapuutarha and rocky tree-covered hills of Huvituksenkallio and Harakkakallio.

You can find all-encompassing public and private sector services in this neighborhood, including Turku City Hospital and Citymarket in Kupittaa. An influential and active neighborhood association Martinrantaseura is working in Mäntymäki. From Martinrantaseura’s magazines you can read the history of the area and get to know its social activities.
