Pitkämäki-Ruohonpää neighborhood is a park-like area filled with townhouses together with Suikkila suburb. The area is located conveniently close to the shopping area Länsikeskus.

Pitkämäki-Ruohonpää area is located roughly 4 kilometers northwest from the city center of Turku. It is easy to reach the area as two of the main roads run through the area; Naantali highway (Naantalin pikatie) in the southern part and Satakunnantie in the northern part. In addition, the area has excellent public transport connections. Despite the great accessibility, the area itself is peaceful and rather quiet.

Pitkämäki-Ruohonpää residential area consists mainly of town and row houses from different decades. There is also a mid-rise area of Suikkila in the middle of the area, which consists of apartment buildings built mostly in the 1970s. The name comes from the Suikkila mansion located close by, and many of Suikkila's streets carry the names of Turku's sister cities such as Göteboringkatu derived from Gothenburg.

The northern part of Ruohonpää is developing quickly as there are newly built apartment buildings rising in the vicinity of Länsikeskus shopping area. In addition, the largest industrial factory in Pitkämäki, Pukkila Tile Factory founded in 1874, ceased its operations and its surroundings will be transformed for residential use.

The area has good private and public sector services such as two schools and various grocery stores. The Länsikeskus shopping center is also within walking distance located in Teräsrautela. There are also plenty of parks and a running track in the middle of the forest in Suikkila suburb. The nature reserve called Muhkurinmäki is in the southern part.

There is an active neighborhood association Länsi-Turun Asukasyhdistys ry operating in the area. Its aim is to promote the attractiveness of the region, create cooperation among residents, promote the interests of residents and contribute to the development of services and the living environment. In addition, there are also homeowners’ associations Pitkämäen omakotiyhdistys ry and Muhkurin omakotiyhdistys ry, which focuses its functions on the nature reserve of Muhkuri and promoting communality in the townhouse area.
