Satava and Kakskerta islands are one of the three larger islands connected to each other and the mainland of Turku by the Hirvensalo bridge. They lie just south from the more densely populated island of Hirvensalo. Satava is about 12 km and Kakskerta 15 km south from the center of Turku. The islands are sparsely populated as they hold roughly 2000 residents. In addition to the main islands, there are various smaller islands surrounding the area.
Kakskerta is truly a unique island as you can live either by the sea or by the lake, as there is a lake in the middle of the island. The proximity of nature and archipelagic uniqueness draw both regular and summer residents to the islands. In addition, the islands are popular among other citizens for recreational activities.
Both Satava and Kakskerta are perfect places for people, who long for peace and quietness. Anyhow, it is quite rare to find houses being sold in this unique area. The area does not have too many services and most of the public services or grocery stores are found in Hirvensalo or closer to the city center. Residents living in the area use mostly cars to commute, yet you can also reach the islands by bus. There is an active neighborhood association, Kakskertaseura ry, operating in the area.
Do you dream about living in an archipelagic environment?
