Huhkola

Huhkola is located about 7 kilometers southeast from the center of Turku, and it shares its border with the City of Kaarina. The Helsinki Highway (Helsingin valtatie) runs along the western border of the neighborhood, so there is easy access towards both the city center and Helsinki. In addition, there are good public transport connections.

Buildings in Huhkola are either row houses or detached houses. The majority of the buildings have facades made of red bricks, and the rows of bushy crack willows are separating the houses from the roads. With parks and forested areas surrounding the residential area, the neighborhood is lush with greenery. In fact, in the nearby forest, there is one of the best-lighted jogging tracks (or cross-country skiing tracks in the wintertime). The neighborhood is inexpensive compared to the average prices in Turku, and older people and families with children especially favor it for its serenity.

Most of the daily services can be found right next to Huhkola in the Skanssi shopping center. There is a daycare in Huhkola and sports facilities at Karhunaukio sports ground and a small Ketunkatu sandpit. The neighboring district called Lauste has an elementary school, possibilities for recreational activities, and a small shopping center. There is also a homeowners' association Huhkolan Omakotitaloyhdistys ry operating in Huhkola.
