Luolavuori is a cozy and park-like neighborhood within short biking distance from the center of Turku. The area holds both townhouses and apartment buildings.

Luolavuori is located about 4 kilometers south from the center of Turku and it is a pleasant neighborhood close to nature. Luolavuori (“Cave mountain”) gets its name after the caves inside a hill rising in the southern part of the area. The formation of caves is rare in Finland due to Finnish soil. The main cave of Luolavuori is one of the largest and most spectacular caves in Finland. The area around the hill is a popular outdoor area for recreation, and there are plenty of trekking paths along the hills.

The buildings in Luolavuori are mostly apartment buildings built in the 1950s and cozy townhouses with private gardens. A popular suburb called Petrelius is located in both Luolavuori and in neighboring district Peltola. Living costs in the area are average. The area belongs to a Skanssi-Uittamo subregion and they have a Facebook group to discuss different issues and ideas for the development of the area.

There are good basic services in the neighborhood such as the Luolavuori school and an elderly care center. In addition, there are multiple opportunities for outdoor activities and sports facilities, such as an indoor swimming pool and a tennis court. There are also a grocery store, few restaurants, and Saint Henry Church. The area has good public transport connections and one of the main routes is leading directly to the city center.
