Port Arthur, colloquially known as Portsa, is a town in the middle of a city where bohemian and community loving people live. The area’s wooden houses and their courtyards hide thousands of interesting stories.

Port Arthur or Portsa is one of Turku's most loved neighborhoods that 5,000 people call home. Portsa's location next to the city center makes running errands on foot or by bike convenient. The public transport connections are excellent. St Michael’s Church is also located in Portsa.

Port Arthur is a neighborhood consisting primarily of idyllic wooden and older apartment buildings that attract residents who value a relaxed lifestyle. People of different ages, ranging from students and retirees to families with small children live side by side in Portsa’s wooden houses. In Portsa you can also find the former prison Kakolanmäki, which was recently converted into an apartment building together with newly built apartment houses. Wooden houses and St Michael’s Church of Port Arthur have been recognized as a culturally important area by The Finnish Inheritance Agency. Portsa has also been selected as the Best neighborhood in Finland in 2001.
