Mälikkälä

Mälikkälä is located about 6 kilometers northeast from the center of Turku and it shares a border with a neighboring city, Raisio. The area is easy to reach, as Satakunnantie towards Raisio runs through the area, dividing the neighborhood into two parts. In addition, the Rauma Highway (Rauman valtatie) runs along the southern border of the area. The public transport connections are excellent in the area.

Mälikkälä, a peaceful and diverse neighborhood filled with parks, is right beside the services of the Länsikeskus shopping area. The southern part of Mälikkälä is called Pläkkikaupunki, which has mainly townhouses and light industrial facilities. There is also a new residential area called Westpark, characterized by modern architecture in a green sheltered environment in close proximity to forests. In the northern part there are apartment buildings, row houses as well as townhouses with lush gardens. In general, Mälikkälä's housing prices are affordable compared to the average prices in Turku, yet the prices in the Westpark area are high.

In addition to the Länsikeskus shopping area, there is a large shopping area with shopping center Mylly, Ikea, Gigantti, and such just across the border in Kuloinen in Raisio. Nature and forests are nearby in the northern part of Mälikkälä, containing rare natural habitats. One of the sights in Mälikkälä's ancient forest is "Tapio's Altar" - a table stone resting on three rocks. There is also an active neighborhood association Länsi-Turun Asukasyhdistys ry operating in the area. Its aim is to promote the attractiveness of the region, create cooperation among residents, promote their interests and contribute to the development of services and the living environment.
