We collected photos representing our favorite yellow houses from the cities of Kaarina and Turku to celebrate the sunny days of spring. Readers got to vote for their favorites and now we have a winner! Do you agree?

EDIT 15.4.2020 While shooting photos in the neighborhoods of Kaarina and Turku, we spotted many beautiful yellow houses. We gathered all the pretty ones together and readers got to vote for the most beautiful yellow house of the hoods!
There was time to vote until 13.4.2020. We also raffled two lunches to Fiilis Cafe amongst the participants.

THE WINNER: The premises of Kavalton tila
This lovely yellow beauty got as much as 58% of all votes!
In Meri-Piikkiö in Kaarina there are wonderful premises of Kavalton tila in the middle of Finnish nature at it's best. The area of Meri-Piikkiö is a combination of archipelagic views, forests and countryside atmosphere.
2nd PLACE: The treasure of Eastern Center
In the Eastern Center of Turku you will feel a piece of the soul of old Turku. By wondering the streets you will see a variety of buildings from different decades. But this special wooden house attracts the viewer with its protruding windows and soft shapes – as well as with its magnificent color of course.
3rd PLACE: The gambrel of Littoinen
In Littoinen in Kaarina, the detached houses and row houses hide in the embrace of the forest and enjoy the proximity of Lake Littoinen. This dreamy house full of terraces attracts with its particularly beautiful folding roof and with the peace of its big backyard, which is typical of the Littoinen detached house area.
1. The loveliest wooden house in Pohjola
Pohjola in Turku is known of it's colorful wooden houses. There would have been many candidates with yellow paint on their walls for this competition. Yet we chose this beauty because it is number one – as you can see.
2. The brightest block in Kastu
The neighborhood of Kastu in Turku has a few apartment blocks standing by the green and verdant small house area. In the picture one of the brightest yellow apartment blocks peek behind the other. There is no space for gray in Kastu – at least not in the springtime.
3. Summerhill sunshine
In the neighborhood of Kesämäki (Summerhill in English) in Kaarina, the detached house area is surrounded by natural peace. In Kesämäki you can enjoy parks and neat backyards near the center of Kaarina. This yellow detached house in Kesämäki attracts special attention as its a shiny bright spot among other houses' elegant but temperate colors. 6. Modern shine in Voivala
Kaarina's Voivalanranta charms with its modern architecture and brand new dream houses. The geometric shapes of this black and yellow architectural masterpiece are incomparable so it deserves its place in the competition. The Voivala-Raadelma residential area is developing fast and we shall see the new fine properties rising near the sea.

8. Traditional beauty in Mälikkälä
In Mälikkälä in Turku, you're able to enjoy the atmospheric sandy roads, big yards and the peace of nature as well as traditional Finnish living. This lovely house with its big windows and bright red and yellow coloring captures the eye of a passer-by. 9. The calm castle of Räntämäki
In Räntämäki, Turku, there is no rush on the streets. Surrounded by a peaceful environment, parks and a green yard, this charming detached house shines without sparing it's yellow wall area.
10. The yellow blocks of Skanssi
At Skanssi in Turku, the winds of the new architecture also blew separate colors to separate stairways. And of course, we caught the yellow one on camera. These modern apartments are located in a particularly interesting residential area that is currently being developed into an ecological and socially inclusive community. How interesting!
11. Traditional home in the sunlight of Vasaramäki
Walking through the narrow streets of Vasaramäki in Turku, you can admire the cosy atmosphere and peace of the detached house area. Also this lovely bright home by Kupittaa Park shows its most beautiful hues of yellow in the evening sun.
12. The brightest row house of Vätti
In the middle of the greenery of Vätti in Turku, you can also see yellow! There are many parks and peaceful forest areas in Vätti that are surrounded by detached houses. Although Vätti's houses are all pretty, this charming row house stood out in favor of a full yellow in the middle of all the greenery.
13. The Sun by the railroads of Raunistula
Between the atmospheric wooden houses of Raunistula in Turku and the Aura River, there curves a railway to the north. This bright yellow house in the picture with a curved ceiling greets passengers upon arrival in Turku. It stands out in its glory from all the other beautiful wooden houses of Raunistula.
