Vasaramäki

Vasaramäki is a tranquil neighborhood with its northern border located about 4 kilometers from the center of Turku. It is located within walking distance from the Kupittaa neighborhood where many higher education facilities and office buildings can be found. There are excellent public transport connections and the area is located close to Kupittaa railway station and short distance from the highway towards Helsinki.

Vasaramäki has a variety of cozy wooden town and terraced houses. It is also known for its so-called “funkkis” block, which represents the functionalistic style of architecture. There are several parks and areas with forest in the neighborhood along with one of the cemeteries of Turku. Vasaramäki (Hammer hill) was named after a merchant G.C. Hammar, who rented land in the area during 1823-1826.

The proximity of Kupittaa Park (Kupittaanpuisto) offers recreation and sport facilities for the residents. There is a wide range of public and private sector services such as schools and various social and health care services. Supermarket Kupittaa Citymarket with few other service providers are located in the neigboring area Kurjenmäki-Mäntymäki. There is a homeowners association Vasaramäen omakotitaloyhdistys ry operating in the area.
